UPDATES

Firstly, apologies for the delay between the last bulletin and this one. As visitors to our site will be aware we have been busy preparing tables and histories which have now been loaded.

We have made considerable inroads in Mid-Wales with the Aberystwyth & District and Cardiganshire Leagues slowly coming together. This will virtually complete the area especially if the sporadic Welshpool and District League can be covered.

North Wales has still some major gaps, especially in the Clwyd League whilst the now defunct Halkyn Mountain and Dyserth Leagues need further investigation.

In the hope that someone will come forward to help with any partly covered league we have also included a missing data page for each league on the site.

A special mention here for new member Keith Parry from Pwllheli who is also researching a book on football in his town. Keith has unearthed some data on long lost leagues in the Lleyn area of North West Wales thus filling in some gaps in the project. His eye for detail is superb!

Research is going rather slowly in South Wales with the response to a request for volunteer researchers to come forward proving very poor. We had hoped that the current Leagues would assist our project by researching their own leagues but so far only the Merthyr & District and Aberdare Leagues taking it on.
Due to the large number of minor leagues involved within the South Wales area it will be a very long slog before the leagues section of the project will be completed.

On the international scene, full details of all matches to 1939 have now been loaded, as have details of the unofficial war-time internationals played by Wales. Results from 1946 to 1964 have been added, but team line ups, attendances, scorers, referees etc for post war matches need to be researched.

Tim Grandin continues to update the Welsh Clubs in Europe section with Champions Cup/League and the old European Cup Winners’ Cup data already on the site. The UEFA Cup details will be loaded ion due course.

Finally, don’t forget photographs. If you have any photos of champions or our national team throughout the ages please send a scanned copy to our webmaster Andrew at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
