A NEW website with complete league tables from across Wales is now up and running.
The Welsh Football Data Archive (WFDA) is a project led by Welsh football historians Mel Thomas, Ian Garland and Aled Jones with important contributions from dedicated football fans and researchers across the Principality.
The new website will become the portal to the most comprehensive collection of data ever on Welsh football.
Complete records of existing and long disbanded leagues will be uploaded to a superb website that has received the financial backing of TNS managing director Mike Harris and a generous but anonymous contributor.
Andrew Lincoln - the award winning designer of www.welsh-premier.com and the popular www.saints-alive.co.uk website - has designed the easily co-ordinated site, already loaded with a set of all-time Welsh Cup results.
The Welsh Football Data Archive (WFDA) will be a major resource for football fans, historians, media and of course the Football Association of Wales.
The aims of the website remain close to the heart of Welsh football and will provide a readily accessible source of detailed information on soccer, past and present, in Wales.
The free site at www.wfda.co.uk will include, as research progresses, a history of each league – both existing and defunct – and the final tables for each season where records exist. The Welsh Cup section already has a list of all the results from 1876 to date with full details of the finals and in many cases a photo of the winning side.
International football will also be covered as the line-ups and other data of ALL full AND amateur internationals are gradually uploaded.
The project is a long-term effort to record almost everything about the Welsh domestic game and the international scene and to preserve the nation’s football heritage.
